You Can’t Heal What You Won’t Feel”: Why I Brought My B.E.A.S.T. Mindset into the Rehab Center and Got a Doctor’s Endorsement

I walked into the rehab center just to check on my 95-year-old granny. I walked out with divine confirmation that my purpose isn’t just powerful it’s urgent.

My grandmother, sharp as ever and full of fire, had been diagnosed with MRSA after a recent hospital stay. But what concerned me more than her diagnosis was the dimness in her spirit. She wasn’t talking. She wasn’t smiling. She wasn’t her.

That’s when I realized something most healthcare systems still haven’t fully grasped:

Patients don’t just need treatment. They need transformation.

And I was ready to pitch it.

The Unexpected Pitch and the Unexpected Pushback

I spoke with the nursing director first. I offered a motivational and emotional support program built on my B.E.A.S.T. Mindset something I’ve used to help corporate executives, single mothers, college students, and everyone in between rise out of despair and reclaim purpose.

Her response? Cold. Dismissive. Bureaucratic.

Let’s be real she wasn’t even pretending to care.

But God wasn’t done. Because then I met Dr. Saint, my grandmother’s physician. And that conversation changed everything.

“You’re Off the Beaten Path… But You’re Right.”

As we discussed my grandmother’s condition, I shifted the conversation. I told him who I was. What I do. Why I believe emotional healing must be integrated into clinical care.

And I asked him:

“Don’t you think motivational support should be part of the healing plan?”

He looked me straight in the eye and said:

“I agree. I agree 100%. It’s not something that is incorporated… but it needs to be.”

He went on to say that even one sentence of encouragement from a doctor can completely change a patient’s energy. That being robotic might get the job done but it won’t heal the human.

“You can be robotic. But that’s not care.”

This Is Why I Created the B.E.A.S.T. Mindset

Let me be clear: this is not fluff. It’s not performance. It’s not hype.

It’s character work. Soul work. Real work.

My B.E.A.S.T. program teaches:

Bravery in the face of pain

Enthusiasm even when days are dark

Authenticity as a path to self-worth

Self-Control to manage fear, grief, and fatigue

Thankfulness as the foundation of joy

And when paired with the SOAR framework – Survive, Overcome, Achieve, and Rise again and again it becomes a tool for total transformation.

This Doctor Validated My Calling

What Dr. Saint gave me that day was not just agreement it was endorsement.

He told me:

“Motivational support needs to be incorporated.”

“I’ve seen what one sentence can do.”

“It starts with attitude. And we need to do more.”

And he’s right. We need more nurses who care. More doctors who connect. More facilities that treat the whole person, not just the diagnosis.

If You’re in Healthcare, Read This Twice

To every hospital admin, nursing director, and clinical team leader:

If you’re not including emotional, motivational, and character-based interventions in your care model, you’re leaving your patients half-treated.

You don’t just need data.

You need depth.

You don’t just need a discharge plan.

You need a revival plan.

You don’t just need medicine.

You need mission.

And if you’re ready for that mission?

Let’s talk.

To Dr. Saint—Thank You

Thank you for being one of the good ones. For seeing my grandmother not as a number but as a woman with purpose. For affirming that emotional strength is just as essential as physical strength. And for saying what too many are scared to admit:

“Care starts with character.”

If you’re reading this and you work in healthcare, let me bring the B.E.A.S.T. Mindset to your rehab, clinic, or hospital.

Let’s help your patients not just survive but S.O.A.R.
